Before you get a kitten, prepare everything you need to take care of it and help it settle into its new home. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Place to sleep
Provide your cat with a safe and comfortable place to sleep. Some kittens like to sleep in different places, so multiple beds may be needed.
- Cat carrier
Choose a stable, dark (or covered) carrier that will provide enough space for your kitten even as he grows up.
- Bowls for water and food
Most cats prefer ceramic, glass or stainless steel bowls. We recommend giving your cat several bowls to choose from, especially water bowls.
- Food for kittens during the growing period
First, give the kitten the food that the previous owner fed it.
- Collar
The collar should have an address tag with information about the owner. Choose a collar that can be adjusted as your kitten grows. It is recommended to use self-release collars – this way the kitten will not be able to get caught in the collar and get stuck.
- Toilet tray
A closed litter box is best to reduce litter spillage and odors. You should also buy a dustpan for cleaning.
- Cleaners
Stock up on safe, unscented cleaning products for any cases.
- Hair care products
Choose a brush or comb that is suitable for your kitty’s fur, and also invest in a cat nail clipper.
- Hygiene products
Buy a toothbrush and toothpaste for cats. A finger toothbrush works best.
- Scratching post
Protect your furniture by satisfying your kitty’s desire to sharpen its claws.
- Play complex for cats
The complex, which resembles a tree with at least two “branches,” will help maintain your pet’s physical and mental activity.
- Toys
Buy toys from reliable manufacturers. Choose ones that will evoke instinctive behavior.
